The Legal Empowerment, Access to Justice, and StreetLaw (LAS) programme seeks to connect legal education to socially relevant justice education and promote people-centered justice systems by building the agency of end-users of laws, promoting social norms that respect the rule of law, gender and social inclusion, and supports the development of law students to become public interest lawyers in the future.
LAS focuses on strengthening access to justice systems at the grassroots, by improving access to justice for vulnerable and marginalized groups, and fostering a culture of legal empowerment through innovative StreetLaw programmes, advocacy, and building institutional capacity of local and formal systems.
Emergency Support for Civic Space Actors will provide support and assistance to individuals who face harassment, arbitrary arrest, torture, intimidation, threats, or persecution as a result of their involvement in peaceful protests, online expression, calls to action, or peaceful assemblies, criticism of government officials, traditional leaders, businesspeople, or corporations aimed at addressing issues of public concern.
